Just a caveat about buying used recumbents. Want to get a good laugh? Try the current ebay auction 250304121961. It is a 2003 Linear Sonic listed with an opening price of $1K and a buy-it-now price of $3K with local pickup only. Obviously this bike has grown a lot in value over the years.

The current builder of Linears in NY has announced he is now building a new version of the Sonic at a sub $2K price. I own an older (ca 1997) LWB Linear which I paid around $500 for in 2001. I've gotten many thousands of good miles out of it but wouldn't have considered paying over $1K for it when I first got it. It's a good case of buyer beware and know what you are buying before you shop.

As I was doing research into my first 'bent in 1996, new Linear LWBs were selling for $850. I decided they were built too wimpy and I'd destroy one in a matter of months. I ended up with a V-Rex instead and I've never regretted it.
