Bicycle Mechanics - Can VCRC BB replace Shimano external BB?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
New guy here, I've got a 2007 Giant OCR A1 and according to manufacturer's specs, bottom bracket is Shimano external. Thinking about replacing this with VCRC ceramic bottom bracket, but want to be sure that VCRC is compatible. Appreciate a second opinion from anyone. Thanks.

My opinion? Save your money. For bicycle use, ceramic bearings are HUGELY expensive for a truly negligable benefit. A true triumph of marketing hype over function.
Sorry I haven't seen your post before this, but if you're determined to go to a ceramic BB, I wouldn't recommend VCRC. If you want further specifics, PM me, and I'll provide you with a graphic presentation.
