Northern California - Bayshore Bike Lane Project

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I noticed that the signs for the Bayshore Bike Lane Project got started this Tuesday on my commute to work (was a bit surprised on Thursday to find the shoulder (on the side going toward South City) got carved out and had to use one of the car lanes). Does anybody know the details of this project? Are they just repaving the shoulders and slapping on some Bike Lane signs? Or is it something more extensive? I found a small blurb on http://www.sfbike.org/?bayshore but no details of the actual project.
BTW, the shoulder is still carved out today...though part of it near Brisbane is now paved (love the new smooth pavement).
I don't know where your commute begins on Bayshore but there seems to be quite a bit of changes along Bayshore according to draft bicycle plan (http://www.sfmta.com/cms/bproj/documents/Chapter_1_Bicycle_Route_Network_BAC_000.pdf).

Thanks for the link. That plan only covers those paths that are in SF. Good to see that they're planning to improve several of the streets that I ride on. The specific section of Bayshore Blvd. that I'm talking about is the stretch from the entrance to Brisbane to South San Francisco (wonder who's paying for this project?).

Probably Brisbane. Brisbane has a lot of bio-tech companies with a lot of bike commuters. They would have the money and public urging behind such an improvement. Their section of the Bay Trail is great compared to the San Bruno and Millbrae sections.

They just put in bike lanes on ralston and holly, on the east side of 101. It was always one of my least favorite parts of the bike commute to redwood shores.

Yeah, but that stupid sign is still hogging the bike lane on Ralston.

Oh, that's on Ralston? I remember you mentioning it, just not where it was. I'll have to look for it. I mostly come in on Holly/RWSPkwy, though sometimes I leave on Ralston. And by car :)
