Well I am now asking if any of you have the 2002 mavic ksyrium SSC wheels? Not the SL. I was looking at these wheels and was going to purchase them today at a race. What advise can you give me on there wheels? Thanks for the advise and whatz up!!!!!

if you are buying them at a race i'd say that there is a good chance that they have been raced and have lots of miles on them/
take the front wheel, put it on your frame and spin it. look for the true and dish. they should be fine. someone selling them isn't selling them to upgrade (from SSL's?) do the same with the rears.
wheelsets that old need hub maintanence (as evidence by squeeking under load)
otherwise, find out why he is selling them and he is less apt to screw you if its someone you see regularly.
otherwise, 90% of the time they are fine.

I have a set of them from 2001. I weight from 180-195 depending on current eating habits and I ride very hard. I have many RR crossings around my routes and bunny hop them on my SSC's regularly.
Mine are as true today as when I got them and they have never been serviced and spin as smooth and quite as new also.
Buy them unless they are noticeably abused.

I have two pair of these wheels and they've been excellent. I have a good number of miles on both sets and have had very little to complain about. I've ridden these wheels on a daily basis for the last few seasons and will continue to use them as my daily wheels and have no plans to replace either set. They're plenty stiff and don't go out of true unless you bend a spoke. I train on them, race on them and ride them in all kinds of weather on all kinds of roads. They've been tough and have held up well.

Donīt buy ANYTHING for a bike if you donīt know itīs history , why itīs being sold .
Like others, I'd inquire about the history first before buying them since they're used. I have 2001 SSCs and like SamDaBikinMan, I've subjected mine to some pretty rough stuff. Sometimes I forget that I'm not on my mountain bike. ;) And like SamDaBikinMan's wheels, mine are as true today as when I first got them. I've actually never had to have them retrued since they were first installed.
BTW, are you sure those are 2002? I thought 2002 was when they started shaving between the nipples (yes I'm still talking about bikes here :D) and broke the lineup to SSC SL and Elites. I believe 2001 was the last year Ksyriums were offerred as just SSC.
