Hi folks,
I picked a Univega Via Montega hybrid frame (http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/868573427.html) (no fork) from CL for $10. From my searches, I found it it takes 700c wheels. I also have a late 80s Nishiki Ariel (with the seatpost siezed down in the seat tube, looks hopeless) and a 80s or 90s Schwinn Impact; both have forks and good 26" MTB wheels.
Wondering what would you'd think of trying to put 26" wheels and corresponding fork in the hybrid frame? Wondering what issues this would bring up in terms of the brakes and otherwise.
I'd like to put together 2 frankenbikes (hopefully 1 MTB, 1 hybrid) out of this mess, to learn more about bike mechanics and have fun.
Thanks!
