My bottom bracket is creaky and I want to overhaul it, this would be a first time and I would need to get the right tools, I guess I'll take it to the lbs to tell me which I need cause I don't even know which type of bb it is, is there any way to be sure until you start to take it apart?

Anyway, the barnettes manuals show a tool for fixed cup removal, and one for installation, so you need 1 tool for each procedure then, am I getting that right?

And it gives torque specs, but how do I use my torque wrench with that type of bar-handled tool? any help?

You really need to figure out what you have because there are several different kinds and they each take their own special tools.

The good news is that most fairly new bikes have cartridge bottom brackets that are essentially maintenance free. When one finally dies, you simply remove it and screw in a new one. I think that they're reasonably priced too.
