New poster here (though I've been lurking for a while). There is certainly a wealth of information in these forums! :)

DH and I bought a beautiful pair of Long Haul Truckers over the summer. We love 'em, but decided after our first multi-day mini tour that we needed different saddles.

The new saddles were purchased (Brooks B-17 and Selle Anatomica) and we're anxious to give them a good test. We can't for the life of us, however, figure out how to adjust the tilt.

The seat clamps are the stock clamps that came with the bikes. There are no serrations (or anything else, for that matter) that would allow me to adjust the tilt of the new saddle.

I'm probably about the least mechanical person on the planet but have made a real effort (and some progress) over the past year to learn bike maintenance. We've taken maintenance classes at our favorite LBS toward that end but this little problem has us stumped.

What are we missing?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Do you have a picture of the clamp?

I know whenever I have to adjust the tilt of my saddle the bottom part of the plate has to be knocked loose. When it is tightened down it sort of seizes against the seatpost. Once knocked loose it is easy to adjust.

I have a nitto post and if you look at this picture you can see where the bottom part of the clamp is against the post. Once loose it sort of swivles on the curved section of seatpost.

If you can provide a pic of your seatpost that will be really helpful in giving you a solution.

:)

The bottom part of the clamp was stuck a little. I never realized that there was a slot underneath for the bolt to slide forward or back. A little tap with a wrench and our problem was solved. :thumb:

Thank you, brianmcg123, for your quick response. :)

Rails on the B17 and most other Brooks models are rather short so you may find yourself pushing the saddle back as far as it'll go on the seatpost, if that's your desired position. For some, this may not be far enough back.
