I just wanted to brag on my son a bit. We had been planning on riding over Buffalo mountain this week but the rain kept us at bay until today. Setting out on his new to him Motobecane Nomade, we wound our way towards the summit.
While technically not a high mountain (especially compared to the ones I grew up near in NM) it was his highest climb and longest ride to date. :thumb: Once we got to the top I snapped his victory pose.
He really enjoyed the descent back down and even learned the benefits of drafting a clyde. ;) You can see the top of Buffalo in the shadow as he shakes his fist at it. Of course, this was after descending.
Now for the defeat (sort of). :( We were on our way home, about mile 18 when he started getting a bit weavy in his riding. I ended up along side him and he weaved up against me. I tried steadying him with my hand on his back but it was too late. He went down, my rear wheel went over his front and POW the sidewall blew out on his bike.
It was a blessing we weren't going that fast and he didn't get hurt other than a bruise. :injured: But all in all he's ok and waiting for me to get his bike fixed back up for the next ride. :D
Here is the routing and climbing for todays ride.
