Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm building an SS "beater" and scored an older 105 drive crank with chain rings attached. My dilemma now is finding the left crank arm (172.5 mm). I've looked at them new but want to pay < $25 for it and I'm not really concerned about them matching. So where can I find cheap new or used left crank arms of that length?

ebay. I once sold a right side crank arm on ebay, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I bought my NDS from an eBay seller that had a few new generic Shimano left arms. The left side is usually the one to go (Notice the predominance of drive-side only arms available on eBay). Mine cost $10 + shipping.
A local bike co-op perhaps. They have all sorts so stuff and sometimes a gem.
