I've found cycling on the valley floor incredibly frustrating, for all the same reasons that cycling on the Iron Horse Trail is - lots of people, many of whom don't ride often, lots of foot traffic near any of the trail heads or scenic spots - just not fun.

I have ridden up to Tioga Pass, which is a great ride. I want to do it from the Nevada side one of these days (I've heard it's even nicer that way).

I've read elsewhere that October is a good month for cycling in Yosemite: after the crowded seasons and before the first snowfall. I'm going to try and get there next weekend.

Wouldn't it be great, if for one weekend of the entire year, the powers to be kept the road to Tioga Pass closed to cars and let bikes ride on it til their heats content?

How would we get the ball rolling on that quest?

I've camped and biked in the valley many times. The riding on the bikepaths are a great way to see the sights without getting into the car.
