13 tandem teams did the 3 ferry ride. Perfect weather! We crossed the Mississippi twice and the Illinois river once. The beginning and ending miles are dead flat but the middle portion crosses a pretty good ridge between the rivers. Lots of wonderful views. We did it the easy way around so we coasted down the steepest hill.

Ate lunch in the historic Wittmond Hotel. No menu, everybody gets the same family style dinner - relish tray, sausage, mashed potatoes, noodles, roast beef and all the fried chicken that you can handle. No pie but they had some wonderful cobbler for desert. I had apple (ala mode of course) and it was great.

The hardest part of the ride was returning to our cars after overeating.

So lets see we had a good turnout, perfect weather, a 40-something mile mixed terrain ride, socializing time at the ferries, and good food. Did I leave anything out?

Sounds like a great time.

Since the cobbler counts (it is the end of season), didn't miss a thing.

I think any time you cross two rivers with states named after them, you've done something special. then a no-menu dinner! Nirvana.
