What's with the Zertz inserts on the Specialized Roubaix Comp (carbon fiber)? It seems like a gimmick to me. Is it?

I'm looking at getting a second road bike "for the nice weather days" :D

I'm looking at the Trek 5200 and the Specialized Roubaix Comp. I tried the Lemond hybrid steel/carbon and didn't really like the feel. Based on some posts I read here, I'm also going to try to find a Litespeed Solano to try out. So far I like the feel of the Trek the best...

Any thoughts/comments on any of these bikes?

Tim

BTW, I ride about 7000+ miles/year, mostly recreational/group rides, but I might do some light racing this year. My other bike is a Cannondale R700.

I'm not totally sold on the zertz inserts... my wife's bike is a Speicalized Sequoia Sport... nice entry level road bike.. has the Zertz in the fork... I'm not really sure they are doing anything... maybe help to dampen some road buzz... they don;t seem to hurt anything
