Mountain Biking - wheelset

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Im thinking of getting a new wheelset for my bike as after years of use the SPINS seem to be slightly "wobbley" :( Does anyone have a decent set for trade? :)

What do you want to trade in return for a new wheelset for your bike?

Well?
What type of wheels do you have? What are you looking to get for them?
Now that bike sure is a blast from the past.

FACT: In 1996 I would have sold my soul for a bike like that.

Im not trying to be an ass, I just find it useless to offer something to someone and I dont even know what they need or if they have a wheelset ;) If someone has a wheelset we can talk business. :thumb: also, when I say "wobbley" its a very slight wobble in the front wheel, bothers ME a bit when I pic up speed. My buddy rode the bike and, in his words, thought "Im over reacting to a small almost non-exsistant problem"

I had a mavic 231 on a 1996 syncros hub that I just scrapped a few years ago. Pity.
I'd find a way to fix the spins.
This bike seems like a period piece, a modern wheelset would just look wrong.

They've been that way since they were new, you just didn't notice until now. Every set of Spin wheels I've ever seen were always slightly out of true, and there's no fix for that.

Were you looking for someone with a new set of I9s looking to trade them for a wobbly set of spins? I think Gasrto can help you out.

I never mentioned trading the SPINS for anything? ;) ghettocruiser, Im going to leave it as is, it is period correct...well maybe a few little peices are newer :D Im glad you mentioned it as I was going to the LBS tomorrow to look at a set :twitchy: Im going to take her out on a spin (no pun intended!) Sunday morning.
I have a set of Hope Pro II's laced to DT EX5.1d's that I'd trade you for a set of Transition Revolutions.
They would work quite nicely with your linear pull brakes.

why not try to get a new set of Spins?
There's a company that is making wheels using the old Spin molds. I can't think of the name, but I saw their exhibit at Interbike.

I can't remeber the name of the company, but Dirty Dog MTB Inc. used them to display their stuff . If you contact them, they might be able to help you out.
