Advocacy & Safety - Helmet differences

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I see a lot of different commuting helmets that range from $40 to $200! I just want to know the difference. I mean, they are all pretty much rock solid right? What sets the $200 one apart from the $40 one. They look virtually the same to me.
Any bike helmet you buy in this country will have the same safety characteristics.
The more expensive ones will sometimes get you: more and better vents, more and better adjustability, and less weight. Oh yeah, and they are way blingy. Basically though, its just that that they are blingy.
