So todays my first day back from Europe, so I thought I would take it easy and do twenty miles. In addition to not riding for 2 weeks, I'm also recovering from a cold from drinking too much beer at Oktoberfest. Normally I ignore illness but I still have a scratchy throat so I decided to take it easy.

So I go out to SART and immediately notice I'm going 23+ with almost no effort. At this point I think I'm just strong, as there were winds in my face as well. Nothing strong, but I could feel them. So when I hit my turn around point I knew why I was going so fast. The freaking headwind was strong. I couldn't get it past 14 mph and after a few miles I just wanted to get home.

Well, it was better than staying home but I'll take heat over headwinds anyday.

I thought it was fun! Gina didn't:D....Couple of my pics from today. The big flags in the pic were hugging the pole yesterday. Today they were fulll sail, and the flag to the left is huge! Stick and debris on the trail from the wind. On the way to Imperial, Gina had trouble holding my wheel as I was doing 11 mph. She was ready to puke by the time we go there which was 9 miles into our 42 miles. Second pic is at teh end of the ride. You can see the parking situation, no other riders around!:D

I'm thinking you were on the Inland section of SART? It was much windier on the OC trail towards the inland section. The coast was mellow though!:p

The flags are sailing!

Does she look happy to be back?

Yeah, I was on the inland part. Normally I think the OC part is windier but today it was really bad out here, there wasn't any relief anywhere.

I've rode in some bad headwinds, but this time I felt as if I was on a 7% grade. Rarely does a headwind feel like a climb.

Hmm. It was beautiful weather on my route (Irvine to Camp Pendleton and back). 95 miles of reasonably comfortable temps and plenty of sunshine! Maybe 10 mph headwinds at the most.

Not too bad on my short hill workout today (Magic Mountain area) I waited until the afternoon when it warmed up and calmed down a bit. I still had a decent crosswind or headwind that was blowing me around on a couple of my favorite descents where I'm usually hitting about 40mph to which I was limited to about 25.

It was definitely cold out though. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to temps in the low 60's, so I pretty much didn't have any exposed skin (minus my fingers and wrists) from the neck down. Just the standard UnderArmour cold gear shirt, jersey, knee warmers, long wool socks, and ear cover. Most important to me out of all of that is covering my ears which are super sensitive to cold wind. I could be cold elsewhere, but if my ears are throbbing, then I'm not a happy cyclist.

Its windy again out here, actually shook the house a few times, probably going to hit the trainer instead.

I rode to Mill Creek Summit Saturday. 30 miles to the summit, 5k of climbing, and a 20 mile an hour head wind the whole way up Big T to Angeles Forest Hwy. It was a beautiful day.

I live around Huntington Beach in Fountain Valley and the headwind here is just crazy.
My windows have been shaking every now & then, just yesterday my brother and I decided to bike to the beach and back... bad idea.
There was so much headwind that I felt like I had just put 30 pounds on me.
Now, there's a fire going on and the wind is blowing all the ash towards my way.
No way in hell am I going to go bike right now.
