Ok, boys and girls,
A new poll to find out what you wear when you ride these darn fixed gear/ss bikes we own.
I, being most compulsive/anal retentive, wear color matched Kucharick wool jerseys, matched to the bike color I'm riding. Along with matching Doo rag under my helmet. This for any ride other than just going to the store. In that case, anything goes.
Either padded bib tights or padded shorts.
In colder weather under the tights a second pair of shorts and leg warmers or even wool tights if it is real cold.
In the hottest months I wear Lycra jerseys, color matched to the bike. As I said, compulsive/anal retentive.
No logo jerseys with the exception of 2 Wool Jerseys and 1 Lycra of a historical nature for Bianchi ,Peugeot, and Cinelli. They are more keepers, than wearers. Without starting a flame war, I wear a Helmet every time I am on the bike, no exceptions. I have lost 2 friends due to head injuries and I don't want to join them in the great Bicycle Race in the sky, or down below, just yet.

Ok, Have at it. What say all you?

Naked. Buck as$ naked. Actually, i usually wear my clothing for the day, t-shirt, jeans...but i am usually riding to and from class/work/tutoring(i tutor the child, not the other way around). If i am going on a longer ride, its mesh shorts and a light t-shirt, weather permitting. If it is too cold, wind pants and a jacket. I only wear a helmet on the longer weekend rides. Oh yeah, i also use mesh half finger cycling gloves.

cut off shorts and a white t shirt for the most part :)

add a layer or two and gloves..maybe some tights for cold weather..

Whatever I happen to be wearing that day (for the most part). I don't have any cycling-specific clothing, but I like to wear some of my cargo pants that have drawstrings on the leg cuffs. I have a reflective velcro strip for the drive side leg. So, cargo pants, t-shirt-probably the female equivalent of Trekkie 820...?

So it's wool jerseys in winter/early spring/late fall and ss or sleeveless bike jerseys (mostly sans logos) the other 8 months of the year. Live on Gulf Coast so wool time is about over for this season and the heavy sweat will be here any day now. Lycra shorts/tights depending on temp. Helmet 95% of the time.

99 percent of the time its whatever's already on. Dont believe in 'getting dressed' to go ridin; too restrictive (socially) and too stinky.

When its time to flex and keep the hounds at bay, on go the wool cycling shorts and the helmet. and maybe the jersey.

I wear the ultra-high-tech shirts with large channels for maximum cross-ventilation.

i wear whatever i happen to be wearing. which is usually:
1) black dickies pants, cuffed to mid-calf, chain wallet in back pocket, american eagle leather belt from farm and fleet with my "no nukes" belt buckle.
2) white T-shirt. with either black or maroon sweatshirt over it. recently i discovered that a shirt i have in my collection is VERY nice for bike riding. it's black and it's either designed for a small boy or it's supposed to be one of those 3/4 sleeve deals (i'm guessing on the former because i picked it up in the childrens' section at a thrift store in boston), anyway, it has skulls and flames going up the sleeves, and a skull and crossbones on the front that says "rebel riders" around it. yeah. i'm just. that. hard. core.
3) campy cycling cap with my old school blue protec helmet.
4) blue pumas with argyle or striped knee-socks.

SPANDEX BABY!!! but that's on my geared road bike.

i haven't done any longer rides on my fg yet, but it's just whatever i have on and gloves. oOooOOooO. probably my timbuk2 bag 95% of the time since it carries half my life.

Cheap bike shorts and a 'hi-vis' yellow jersey from performance. I got the bike shorts because my ass liked the idea and I got the jersey because my wife saw a biker with that color on one day and could see him from miles away. I now have a comfortable ass and am very visible, what more could you want in bike clothing?
If I leave the end of my driveway then I have a helmet on. BMX, multiple impact protection. Do I think I'll hit my head that often? Based on previous experience, yes I do.

My semi-crotchless baggy padded shorts (must get them fixed), usually my funky Ben And Jerry's jeresy, and a sweatshirt/hoodie if it's too cold. As usual, cash is stopping me from getting more stuff, like bib shorts to wear under normal clothes, and leg warmers.

A mix of regular clothes and tech gear. Not bike-specific but running/climbing synthetic stuff which doubles up just as well and is usually found cheaper.

I wear tights under pants in the winter - keeps that wind sting out well. Cycling shorts under cargo shorts in the summer - less chafe, more rock.

I picked up an addidas soccer jersey. Breathes, durable for minor collisions, comfortable. Cheaper than a jersey, more durable, and oh, so fashionable.

i just wear whatever i was wearing for the day. i'm an advocate of wearing highwaters and capri's, which work nicely for bike riding. or i'll just cuff my longer pants mid shin.

for long rides i'll put on some lycra. I'm far too sweaty a beast to use anything else. For short rides I'll just wear whatever I have on, though if I had lots of short rides to do in a day I'd probably modify what I was wearing to be better suited, i.e. cutoffs and breathable t-shirts.

I quite fancy getting a wool jersey, skint at the moment though I've got a job interview tomorrow so there's always hope.

I'd hoped to pick up the fg I was going to borrow today but couldn't and then realised I had to get back home in 20 mins to let my g/f in the house. Could have done it in ten on a bike, but no I had to run all the way there. Made it ten mins late, only to find out she'd left work 45 mins later than she said she would so I didn't need to hurry at all.

Oh yeah and I've been known to colour coordinate my my bikes and lycra too, even as far as the shoes socks sunny g's and helmet. I'm be so damn cool if this was the roadie forum.

Cor blimey charlie you've got me in a right two and eight now. A right pickle indeed.

You see I can't win, I go back to the UK and get the piss taken because I say bathroom instead of toilet or going for a slash. I even started losing a few r's boston style. Then I come back here and it's all apples pairs and butcher's hooks. I think it's the top hat that usually gives it away.

Couple of things.

One.

165-48:17 only wears designer wool jerserys by some fancy pants yuppie wog company. He's an imposter and must be stopped.

Two.

Matching your jersey to your bike colour doesn't mean you're 'anal retentive' - all it means is that you're possibly gay. Real men of course wear jerseys in a COMPLIMENTARY colour to their bike. Sheesh, don't you wånk£rs know anything?

Three.

Slothy, if you name drop some sh1t box brand of anything one more time I'm gunna fly up there and snot you with my County cricket bat and then maybe spray WD-40 on the wounds, before contemplating throwing some Band-Aids at your Kangol infested head.

Finally.

Wool rules.

That is all.

two things:
one:

two:
wtf is "Kangol?"

i like my pants. even when they start to stink after weeks of not being washed.

I wear whatever as far as clothing but I always wear a helmet, cycling gloves, and those little reflective things that keep my pants out of the chain.

That being said, almost all of my jeans have this sort of perma stain on the bottom from my chains, anyway.

In the summer its whatever shorts and t-shirt don't smell as bad as the rest. I don't dress up to ride, i dont own a car so when i want to go someplace it's bike or walk.

I look like a dog, yet have a pouch. Of course I'm confused.

On Topic - New Short Report - Strapped on some new Boure shorts yesterday. Best damn shorts on the market. Not stupid expensive, and plenty of breathing space for the Lads, quality build, great fit - especially if you're a 200lb 6ft 4in monkey like me. Still gutted that I'm an XXL though, but I'll get over it.

Ok, boys and girls,
A new poll to find out what you wear when you ride these darn fixed gear/ss bikes we own.

warm weather:
commute, etc: black supertankers (from ground effect in nz), whatever shirt is handy, gloves (sometimes), helmet (most of the time).
road rides: the usual lycra stuff, in black, blue, red. no logos.
off-road: pretty much the same as the commute.

cool weather:
commute, etc: black ranchsliders (again from ground effect), or whatever happens to be baggie enough, not denim, and handy. wicking baselayer, and a wool jersey from rivendell. sometimes a wind jacket or wind vest.
road, off-road: some lyrca, some wool, some stuff from sporthill.

cold weather:
all sporthill, all the time with some goretex thrown in.

for shoes, it depends on the bike and the pedals--and my mood since i sometimes throw the platforms and clips back on the fixies so that i can go back to riding in chucks or vans instead of the SIDIs. just get tired of the high-tech side of it, i guess.

This is not a dating forum...any attempt to deviate from Fixed Gear, Single Speeds or Track bikes will further irritate William Karsten. And he might blow up soon

You sound like Indymedia, 165, which is awesome.
As to Karsten, it's always a pleasure to see him blow up.
However, Koffee Brown might just want to incorporate the above, or any other subsequent photo in her thread in the women's forum.

Hopefully, no one is offended, including lucklust.
And i fully retract my admiration for the example given by photo in the clothing poll. so there.

And there won't be much more posting of pictures of me. Seems to be alot of liberty taken on my pictures, and I'm gonna make it harder for people to have fun at my expense. (In other words, I'm gonna up the anti... :D)
