I want ot take a long weekend and travel south from my home in southwest Michigan to do some road cycling. Any suggestions? The only requirement is that I need to be able to drive there in 1 day.

Last summer we did a ride that passed through the Amish country in Northern Indiana. Certainly within a day's drive from your location. Riding through the Amish area was very interesting, and needless to say very low (motor) traffic. Lancaster, Topeka, Bern were some of the towns in the area.
