Colin and I have been happily learning how to use the tandem, and have made some neighborhood rounds, a couple trips home from school and a quick jaunt on the Silver CometTrail.

This weekend we went out to the last trailhead on the Silver Comet Trail in Georgia and peddaled across the dirt to the start of the pavement in Alabama. Not sure of the mileage, but we had a lot of fun and a great afternoon.

Pictures of me, Colin and Ian are here:

Fun! That's what you were envisioning when you bought that bike isn't it? Mileage doesn't matter unless you make it matter. Speed doesn't matter unless it's important to you. Fun matters to everybody. I think that you're doing it right.

Thought you said Mud. There is only one way to go off road and that is on a tandem. It does require a bit of extra skill, and a tandem that is set up for, and will take, the extra punishment that it will get on the lumpy bits, but If a solo can do it, so can a tandem, but faster, smoother and with double the fun. The only thing I am wary off is getting too high off the ground, but I dare say I will get used to that in time.
