Last year, when the power mower was broken and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting that I ought to get it fixed, but somehow the message never sank in. Finally, she thought of a clever way to make the point.
One day when I arrived home from work, she was sitting in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched for a short time, then went inside. I found an old toothbrush, took it outside, and handed it to her. I then said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the sidewalks."
The doctors say I'll probably live, but it will be quite awhile before the casts will be off.
