Folding Bikes - My first Folder - free on the side of the road!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So I was driving and saw this bike and had to turn around..went to the house it was at and they said it was free for the taking:

Needs a bit of love, but I think ill take out the 3 speed (seems all rusted up) and make it single speed. Replace the brakes, and give it an overall clean-up.
for a brand, all it seems to say is "Exclusiv" or something like that.

A Raleigh 20 clone. Looks to be a nice little bike, especially for free! These types of bikes can be done up to look quite modern and trendy.

Sounds like that urban legend, with a couple getting divorced so the wife decides to sell the car for $20. You should have also asked if they were giving the car away too. :)
haha it was just out there by where the garbage goes, i walked to the door and an old lady juse happened to be walking out from the side door as I do so...I ask if the bikes for sale, she responds (yelling) "that silly old one that folds up? THATS AN ANTIQUE I used to ride it, take it! they may put more out later"
So tomorrow im goin by to see if any other bikes show up.

Good luck! I passed a house on my way home from work, maybe a year ago, and there were two bikes out with the trash. I went to the door to ask if I could move them to a different part of the yard and pick them up later (can't carry two extra bikes on my folder). The lady said sure, no problem; and she said they'd be putting out more bikes later. Yeah, well... I go by there every morning, and every evening; no more bikes yet!

It's like a fairy tale...and then on one very special morning, the old lady of the house put out a very special little bike. And the happy little fellow that passed by every day finally found his one true love...

Need more details, the 'Exclusiv' is almost certainly not the make, possibly the model or a slightly posher version of a certain model.
After all it's a generic 'Klapprad', these were cheap, heavy folders that were made by many marques all over Europe & The Eastern Block
It differs from the R20, not least, because it has a vertical catch, as opposed to a horizontal (& therefore stiffer) catch on the Raleigh

Hmm so home security patrols for life for the price of one 2nd hand bike! Bargain, must try that :D

There are 3 British quality bikes with that geometry, The R20 (mass produced globally), The Dawes Kingpin and the less well known and very rare Vindec (made by brown brothers). Your bike may not be one of these but for free its still a nice find.
Be warned: FOLDERS ARE ADDICTIVE!
Does the bike have a Headbadge on the front? Maybe a piccy of that might help in identifying it? Also the chainwheel of bikes this age sometimes contains a logo, looks in the picture as if one of the 5 spokes of the chainwheel is different, maybe a close up pic of that too?

What kind of 3spd hub is it? If you're tossing it I'd be happy to take it off your hands!
