Foo - Woohoo new truck!!!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I went and traded in my 09 Toyota Tacoma yesterday. I bought the exact same truck, just had less miles on it. The old truck I traded in was pretty high mileage, it had 945 miles, this one only had six miles on it.
Here is a crappy picture I took with my iphone when I picked up the truck last night.

So much armorall...:D
Here is where I originally posted what happened in another forum.
Well I've had my new 2009 Tacoma TRD access cab for exactly two weeks now. I love it, it's beautiful, and in perfect condition, well it was anyway.
Today I was driving west on the interstate doing 70 mph. Next thing I know I see a large dumptruck going eastbound flipping towards me. I slam on the brakes and come to a stop. If the truck would have rolled one more time it would have been on top of me. I got very lucky as did the driver of the dumptruck since he walked away even though he was ejected from the truck.
Well now the bad part. The truck threw it's load, large gravel, all over my truck. The windshield has numerous chips and two large cracks. The bumper, grill, hood, fender, roof, door, access door, side of the bed, driverside window, and one spot on the back of the cab all have dings, chips, scratches, and scuffs all over them. Two wheels, a headlight, and the bed rails have chips and scratches as well.
Needless to say I'm not happy. I hate to say it but I really don't want to have to pay on a truck for six years that needs this much body work due to someone else. It just doesn't seem fair. The truck only as 600 miles on it.

How many horses?
How many horses?
235, plenty for pulling a boat or a few bikes or motorcycles.
The truck through it's load, large gravel, all over my truck.
What does this mean?
What does this mean?
Oops, meant "threw it's load".

Just checking :)
Damn Internet-speeling, it get's the best of all of us at tiems
How are those Tacomas for daily driving? Once I'm out of college I am going to need be purchasing a new pickup, and I have been debating between a Honda Ridgeline, a Ford F-150, a Toyota Tundra, or a Tacoma.
The big factor is drivability, second factor is towing a trailer that can go up to 5000 pounds at highway speeds.

Why does every new college grad want to buy a new car/truck? Why go into debt when you are just starting out? So many of the people i graduated with did this, and some now regret it.

Nice ride, I have the same one, but 4 door and silver...ilove it. Good luck, I hope nothing happens like that again to you...

I am very happy with it. I had a 2005 before and it was great. I traded it in for a 2008 Element which was great for hauling around bikes but not very practical for a new homeowner that plans on doing some upgrades around the house. I love driving it, it is very comfortable and gets around 20 mpg. Not great compared to cars but pretty decent for a truck.
My dad has a Tundra and it is very nice as well, only problem is that it gets aroudn 15 - 16 mpg. His is a 2004 or 2005, can't remember. It's the older body style though. I believe the new ones get even worse gas mileage.

Thanks. I test drove a 4 door yesterday and almost went for it. I just couldn't go for the shorter bed and I wasn't willing to spend the extra money to special order the 4 door with the long bed. I don't have kids so I don't really have much need for the extra two seats.
Nice truck, LC. It should last you a long time. My brother has a 1990 toyota with an SR5 that just rolled over 400k.

16mpg is about twice what I get, so that would be an upgrade for me in that department. I'm with you on the Element -- great ride (family member bought one), but I can't really use it because of needing to tow something that is so relatively heavy for long stretches on the highway.
Toyota has come a long way with their pickups. I still remember a few years ago that car dealers assuring people that there would be absolutely no way a non American car company could make a V8 pickup truck that could compete with the Big Three.
