Framebuilders - Updating a Frame for Rohloff / disk?

I have a 1992 fillet brazed Chas Roberts Roughstuff bike that I am considering updating a bit.

Ideally I would like to add:

Rohloff specific dropoouts for OEM1/2 (thinking Paragon, but Im not too familiar with the best options) OR eccentric bottom bracket (split, bolt clamp style) the EBB is probably too much trouble though.
Disk brake tabs on the fork and chainstay, forward facing dropouts on fork ( again, if its not too much trouble) The fork is stout enough for disks.
a few braze ons here and there (bottle cage mounts and the like.)

Im wondering a few things about the details:

Is it difficult or unwise to amend a fillet brazed frame, generally speaking?
how should I go about finding a suitable framebuilder that would do the work? with the dollar/pound situation, I'm fairly sure I cannot afford for Roberts to do it... I live in the Washington DC area now.

What would this likely run me, assuming two disk mounts, Paragon rohloff sliders and brazed on cable guides for the roholl external gearbox? I know details will change a lot of the pricing, but it would be helpful to have a rough estimate of cost to do it 'right'.

I am basically wondering if it would be better to get the silkroad frameset which is designed for these features. I know and love the Roberts' ride, so I am hesitant to replace the frame, plus the Roberts is SS coupled, which I love. I probably cannot justify keeping both. I know I know: Why mess with something that doesn't *really* need fixing? Basically, I commute, tour and rely on this bike every day, and I want the reliable and generally maintenance free IGH drivetrain... I'm sick of buying chains, cassettes, chainrings, breaking derailleurs, exploding shifters, etc. I will put a full chaincase on this one and call it done.

Just sort of thinking out loud here, but I would love the experts' opinions on the issues and costs associated with these upgrades to a bike I love. Let me know if there are any other details that are helpful to know, and thank you in advance for your thoughts.

You could probably make those changes, with the paragon drops. The frame wasn't designed for it, and the Rohloff puts extra stress on the stays, but unless they were very whimpy it would probably be OK. It really doesn't look to me to be an economically viable job. Few people make a living doing filing, brazing, or manual machining these days. And a lot of those who do are selling up. On ther other hand if you find someone who needs the work, anything is possible.

I'm building my Rohloff frame with an EC BB. It's cheaper on parts, and a lot of the tough touring bikes seem to prefer it. Done right, I didn't find the parts, and there is a lot of machining required to get the 125 thou slop out of the BB case, and get a tight fit with the insert. I am going to have to build a few fixtures also, none of which would be feasible for a one off alteration. The paragon parts do have a great reputation though. I think the Rohloff drops might be cheaper. The EC BB would be harder to retro by far and you might end up with a slight offcenter to the BB position.

Why not thorn? Their cheapos aren't badly priced. Another option is any old toruing, etc... frame with horizontal adj. drops, then you need the lever thing that braces the hub.

You can add rack braze-ons to any drop. Hard to believe there isn't a version with rack mounts... Did you ask. What about Rohloff. Probably better to find a new frame though.

Buy the tout terrain frame if disc brakes with a Rohloff is a must. Else, keep you existing rim brake Roberts, have a frame builder weld an ISO disc tab to your frame, get an OEM2 axle plate to attach the Rohloff to the disc tab and a Rohloff chain tensioner for the chain. Additionally have a few cable tabs welded on for the Rohloff shifter cables and a few unused derailler cable tabs welded off. Cheap and clean looking Rohloff retrofit sans disc brakes.
