I know, it's killing me. Wait, you're in Montana? On vacation here?
Cincinnati getting some snow too. Not to bad 2-4" in most areas. Made for a sloppy drive in to work.
When I left for work, we had half an inch to an inch of snow on the bike paths. It was 28F. Big, thick snow flakes were falling, making everything in the distance fade into white. My wooded bike path along a river was beautiful, and I was the first one out on most of it.
Last night I switched the Nokians back onto my Cross-Check, so I just cruised through the snow. 22 mph ain't much on a dry road, but it's thrilling on snow. I had an easier time getting into work than my steel-coffin-commute colleagues. This was one of my best 8-mile rides ever.
Yes, I posted a similar comment in the "how was your commute" thread, but I thought it was worth repeating here.
I'm here in Dublin/Columbus, OH on business. (CMHC Systems in Metro Place No. I sure miss my bike. Would have been a nice ride from the motel.
I fly back to Montana on Friday. I'm going to head over to the bike shop on Sheir-Rings after I am free this afternoon.
If anyone is intersted, I'm staying at the Dublin in Hampton. Rm 138.
Welcome to Ohio!
Glad we could make it snow for you on your visit. :D

Aw shucks, you shouldn't have.. :p
Yeah, yeah, I got dumped on, too! And my fixed-gear ice racer I'm building isn't even completed yet!
The weather guy said to expect 3 to 10 inches, we had 9 (23 cm) inches at 2:30PM and it continued snowing lightly for about 4 more hours.
I had to drive my wife to her opthomologist in Akron durring the worst part of the storm; haven't seen the roads that bad since the blizzard of '78. Scary.
Needless to say; it's back on the trainer tomorrow.
In Ohio too.....(yuck; not something I would make up) lol. I'm 80% road but when winter is here I've found my mountain bike is better than nothing. Can get a good work out slippin and slidin around in the mud and slush.
Does the sun ever shine here? Been here since Saturday and only seen the sun for about 2 hours!
Thick fog this morning.

Hey ridealot, my sister moved to that area a year ago (she's not a biker) and told me that I'd never make it there biking, it's to dangerous, What's it like commuting there? Sorry, Montana, I'm a little off topic here. ;)

Actually, I think it is pretty good. I have not had to many problems. I do get the occasional yell to get off the road, but mostly drivers seem to give me the room I need on the city streets. There are some pretty good hills here and some narrow streets. My main route into work is pretty flat and has some wide lanes in most areas. There are some bad drivers here, especially when it rains or snows, those times I am extra cautious of my surroundings.

What is sun? All I see here are big rain drops/snow flakes...
Awww, we left Cincy on Monday and drove to Denver. Heard the schools were closed on Tuesday and the cycle club cancelled their rides on Wednesday.
The weather here is awesome, upper 60's Wednesday and 70's today. I picked up my Titus Racer X yesterday. Got to ride some after it was fitted and rode to downtown Denver today. I already have 43 miles on it. Sounds like maybe this weekend will be better for you!
Just thought I'd rub it in!
Kathi
yea yea yea,
I get to fly home this evening where it was 68F yesterday!! YEA!
I sure miss the BLUE skies of Montana! Skies here always seem to be gray. Ohio seems to be a nice place, but don't think I could live here. Although, I love the bike shops around here! Great folks and inventory.
Back to the BIG SKY COUNTRY!

Funny. Now that you're leaving, the sun has come out.
In Cincinnati it rains a lot in April and May then the sun comes out and the temps go up and so does the humidity. You're much better off in Montana!

Keep up the good work N7CZinMT.

Hi Kathi,
I'll see what I can do. :)
I may have a special encantation that will help. However, you should be prepared for spring skiing conditions.
Well, I thought I would say a collective, Thank you, to the people of Ohio.
I am now back in my home state of Montana and glad to see brilliant blue skies once agn.
I'm not sure if I'll have to travel to Ohio anytime soon agian, but if I do, I know where the bike shope are in Columbus... :)

What bike shops did you visit in Columbus and how were your experiences with them?

Lets see,
I went to Bike Warehouse on Shier-Rings Road in Dublin. (I think it was still in Dublin.) This place had strange hours of operation. Closed on Sunday & Monday? Kinda like a barber shop. There was only one guy working there and he was very busy with repairs etc. Once he was free, he was great to visit with.
The second store I went to, and my favorite, was BikeSource on Sawmill Road in Dublin. http://www.bikesourceonline.com They carried the entire Specialized line, which the first store didn't. (I am kinda partial to the Specialized brand). In this store I had two fellows to talk with. They also carried Cannondale, Giant, and Lightspeed. I was able to try a full carbon Specialized road bike and some of the other models and makes as well. This was especially nice since none of my local LBSs here in Great Falls carry much of a selection of road bikes at all. They do carry loads of MTBs. If your going to BikeSource in Dublin, ask for John Cristiani. Tell him the big guy from Montana sent you. :)
Overall I was very impressed with the stores and their staff. They were friendly and made me feel comfortable. I feel out of place at any of my local LBSs. You know, fat guy on a bike complex. I didn't get that feeling from either store.
Hope that was what you were looking for.
I moved from Ohio (Cleveland) so I didn't haver to shovel driveways anymore. It worked the last time I had a snow shovel in my hand was 30 years ago :D
Bah, shoveling driveways is fun!! If you can survive a Cleveland winter with both your body and sanity intact, as well as your car, you are in good shape!!

I sometimes shop at the BikeSource near the OSU campus, but I have never been overly impressed with it. There always seem to be plenty of people to help, but none of them really seem to have any passion for what they do.
I have never been to Bike Warehouse but I may have to check it out sometime. I am still looking for a good bikeshop in the area. I tend to just buy everything (everything, not just bike stuff) online anyway, so I am more looking for a place to get personal help then for parts.
BTW, the weather here still sucks. Sunday was 72 and sunny, but it is supposed to rain for the next week now.

Sorry to hear about the weather! We were 67F today and 75 tomorrow. :)
I don't know what to say about your experience at Bikesource. I guess I just got lucky. Then again. Our local stores don't have much of a selection and I was drooling from the time I walked into the store.
it was 77f today tomorrow back to 50f oh well

My 23 yr old daughter has worked at the Sawmill BikeSOurce off and on, on a part time basis for 8 years. She has always been well treated and accepted as part of the team. She is passionate about cycling, was the president of her college bicycling team and a sponsored racer for Wendy's amateur cycling team. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Bikesource.

Hey Chuck, that is really cool! I don't have any trips back to Columbus planned. My boss and our CFO are out there now for training. I really liked the guys that I spoke with there. They were a lot of fun.
Take care and tell your daughter to keep it up!
Bob
