Folding Bikes - Is this a good bike for my boyfriend?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've started commuting to work on my Trek 7100 and my boyfriend has gotten jealous of all the fun I am having and wants to commute as well. His commute is only a mile, so I know that really any bike will do, but we also might want to take some longer rides together on the weekends. He found this Dahon Espresso on craigslist and I was wondering what you all thought about it. Is it a good bike? A good price? He is about 5'10 or 5'11 and 150 lbs. We are both fairly new to all this, so we don't need top of the line stuff, but would like to get something that would last.

Oh, and he lives on the third floor in a small apartment so the folding would be nice.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

That's a good deal... the 20" model is Dahon's 'large' size (Espresso 26" wheeled sizes are 16" 18" and 20")... the fold in half design works well .. lots of gears .. good bike for casual riding .. nothing too proprietary in the parts dept. so upgrades if ever needed should be easy.. the bike isn't light at 30+lbs, nor that compact compared to 20" wheeled Dahons, but certainly a good deal if it is in 'new' condition.. I have a 26" wheeled Dahon Zero G mountain bike with similar frame and it has been great for it's intended purpose..
