I live in Sitka, Alaska, a Bicycle Friendly Community located in a small remote island town in Southeast Alaska. Our local bike coalition is looking for already produced bicycle safety ads we can use. We're going to be stepping up our local education and enforcement efforts on a few problem behaviors, and we need to stretch our budget as much as we can.
We are looking for regional and/or national TV, radio and print ads that easily can be adapted to our community (maybe a generic safety PSA with room for a tagline about our local bike coalition, or a newspaper co-op ad where the top part is a produced safety ad and we add a one-inch strip on the bottom to ID our local bike coalition). We are looking for public domain ads, or ones where obtaining permission to use them is fairly easy. We don't want to violate anybody's copyright. We don't have a lot of money to produce new ads, and even if we did have the money we don't really have much in the way of local TV/radio/newspaper ad production facilities.
Safety themes we're pursuing include Be Safe Be Seen (headlights, taillights, reflectives), wrong-way riding, sidewalk riding, riding in the rain (we live in a temperate rain forest), riding on ice (we use studded tires), youth helmets, control your bike, etc. We live in the Pacific Northwest, so that oceans/mountains/forests/rain look in the ads will make them look kind of local even if they're not.
