I meant to post this sooner, but work kind of got in the way. I first wanted to thank everyone that helped me out with my previous thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=466289&highlight=)requesting info on routes in that area. It was most helpful.
I was able to get out both Friday and Saturday morning. On Friday morning, I headed south to Assateague. With the bike lane, Rt 1 was fine. Things got a little hairy crossing the bridge on 50, and again trying to cross traffic to turn south toward assateague, but over all it wasn't too bad.
For those that don't know, this whole region is incredibly flat. For the entire weekend, the closest thing that I came to that resembled a hill was the bridge into Assateague.

I got a shot of OC from the bridge.

Once I crossed the bridge into Assateague, I immediatly saw a pony on the side of the road.

The next day I rode northward. It was a much longer ride that was a little hampered by the last leg of a Triathalon that happened to be going on that day. I stopped somewhere, I believe in Bethany, to watch a little of it and to check my Blackberry to see how much further until my turn. Once I started going again, I pretty much had to ride in the right hand lane of the two lane road because of all the runners. (FYI, the guy in front was a good minute or two ahead of the 2nd place guy. After that were about 20-30 racers that were in clusters of two or three. The rest of the field was some 10 minutes back from that.)
My turn West off of Rt 1 was just past the transition. The last light before the turn, I had to stop while the next pack of racers crossed Rt 1 in front of me. I had the odd feeling that people in their cars were wondering why I was stopped there, and not racing (Why else would somebody be dressed like that and riding a bike?). In fact, I stopped again in what I suppose was the Roxanna area, and a guy in a white van (possibly the SAG wagon?) asked if I was lost. My quizzical reaction caused him to ask another question, "Are you in the Triathalon?" Now, this was about 30-40 minutes after I passed the transition, so thank God that I was not participating. In fact, I pray that if I ever do attempt a triathalon, I never get that far behind the main field.
I largely forgot that I had brough my camera with me on this second day. The one shot I got was of the 'Welcome to DE' sign on Rt 1. I really wish I had taken some pics of the race, especially of the bike portion I passed.

Over all, it was a nice weekend. Very lesiurly solo riding where I got to ponder all of the random things that pops into ones mind when they're on such rides. My one complaint about it all was the wind. It was so bad that at one point, after looking back to check traffic after a light, I almost wiped out after over compensating after a large gust.
