Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My buddy and I are planning a tour around the world, we have 1 year and 8months to train and prepare. Any suggestions on bikes? gear? Route? Spots to see. We are going to start from the Pacific Coast in Oregon and end in Eugene, Oregon. Any advice would be much appreciated.

The question seems pretty naive. The little info you do provide is pretty irrelevant, you specify a start and finish that are a days ride apart for a tour that will probably take a couple years.
Where do you want to go and what do you want to see? How much time do you have? What kind of budget?
Do you have any bike touring experience? Camping experience? Riding experience? Are you a decent mechanic?
If you are as clueless as your post makes you sound, I suggest reading old posts, following the discussions here, and reading some journals over on "Crazy Guy on a Bike" to start. Do some touring to be sure you even like it.
On the training... For a trip that long training isn't all that relevant other than it will be easier if you have some saddle time in. It is easy to train as you go on a tour that is a couple months long and "around the world" suggests more than a year. Just take a pace you can manage in the beginning and you will be in shape in a very short portion of the trip.

You're planning a trip around the world and you want someone else to define the route for you? Come on!
Planning the trip is half the fun, start researching; nobody is going to do it for you!
