Tifosi Quam, interchangable lenses comfortable and reasonably priced ~$50.00.

I've a pair of Oakleys, though I don't like the M frames. These are what I wear and I love 'em! Oakley Twenty 5.56 (they now appear as Frogskins on the Oakley site).

Me too, with persimon lenses, just enough tint to cut the glare.

I am looking to getting a pair of M frames, for very bright days.

I have a pair of Pro M frames which just means they ear pieces dont fold, they are great and they dont have a rim so I can see everything

I just bought a pair of the m-frames, and I bought the persimon lenses for cloudly days, since I have a pair of oakley minutes in polarized black iriduim (Rx, too!). So I figured I'd buy the lighter lenses for the M-frames.

The next day, after 1 ride, I returned them. I had the vented lens, which I found out that I absolutely hate. since the glasses were non-perscription, I was wearing contacts, and the vents are precisely positioned to blow air into your eyes. I brought them back to the bike shop, and said, "I really hate this vented lens, I want to return these". the owner was pretty cool about it, he said he'd order the non-vented lens, and he'd just take back the vented one.

Aside from the wind issue, the glasses had great optical clarity, and the persimon lens is a great color for cloudly days. Field of vision is excellent also, without looking (too) goofy.

Question..Not too many of the Oakley's come compatible to lens inserts or accomodate those who need prescription lenses..?

The jackets, as far as I know, can be bought in Rx lenses. The oakley minutes I have are Rx. they were extremely pricey, though...I feel like a little punk when I say this...my mommy bought them for me for my first job (lifeguarding

You can buy m-frame lenses with a perscription in them also.

Here's my vote for the M-frames.

Yes.

I tried on some Oakley's but the ones I liked didn't fit my face very well. Then tried Rudy Project Rydon's and I liked their adjustability. So I bought them, and love them ever so much :)

I wear Rudy Project Kerosenes. I like the adjustable vents. I leave them closed when I wear contacts but open them up when things get humid or if I'm using the Rx inserts.

BTW, you weren't wearing eye protection while riding before as a mountain biker? Shame on you. I think it's more critical to be wearing eye protection offroad. I remember introducing a friend of mine to mountain biking. We were in the shop getting some gear (shoes, gloves, etc...) and I suggested he pick up a pair of sunglasses. My friend just waved me off saying he didn't want to spend the money and thought it'd be fine. Later that day he took a spill (one of many) that results in him landing in a brush where a sharp branch jabbed his cheek just under his left eye. Luckily it was superficial but an inch up and to the right and he'd have to be going through life now starting off sentences with "arrrr maties" to match the eyepatch. Before our next ride, he was sporting some Smith Sliderz.

Looking at the site, you're correct. They only really seem to do the Rx M frameset in various styles for "sporty" prescription glasses.

Rudy Project w/ red racing lenses in normal light (great for depth perception); Briko Sprinter w/ clear lenses in poor light or dark/overcast:

I didn't get these specifically for biking though. Kind of an all-around pair of sunglasses.

I also have a pair of Native Hexx glasses I got from supergo. those are my "beater" glasses that I use when I think Im going to break them.

I bought some Bolle Vigilantes with grey and amberish lenses from Nashbar for 40 bucks and the prescription insert for 30 bucks. A trip to the cheap eyeglasses chain store got me single vision lenses in the insert for about 70 bucks. 140 dollars for sunglasses isn't cheap, but it's not anywhere as expensive as it could be.

Anyone travelling fast, road or trail, ought to wear eye protection.

I just had non-rx lenses put into some old eyeglass frames. I wore them all winter and they kept stuff out of the sockets and the uv rays out of my brain. added bonuses: only $20, don't fog up, don't look like a bike dork. just a regular dork!

Oakleys are nice but don't seem to work with my face... specifically my nose. The Rudy Projects with their adjustable nosepads are however able to sit right on my face. Everyone's face is different so it's going to boil down to whatever fits comfortably.

My XX's are Rx, but it depends on your Rx as well, Mine is mild, -.75, if you have a stronger Rx, like my son, then they wont do, he had to go to a shield with a rx insert.

I highly recommend Briko. The optics technology is amazing and the frames are made from Grimalid (sp?), so they're like rubber.
They are super light weight too.The frame designs are very Euro, very Cippo.

I wear lab glasses. They were $5, and are made by UVEX. They work great, but I definitely don't win the style points compared to the other glasses. Then again, I can buy quite a few pair as backup for the cost of the other glasses.

I have them Oakley Straight Jacket (http://www.sunglassgiant.com/Oakley_straight.htm) with prescription:

A bit pricey, $150 the glasses + the presecription lensses.

I got mine at wal mart for about 7 bucks. With a little duct tape on the ear piece they have lasted over a year. Call me cheap but I swear if I buy a 60 dollar pair of glasses I will either sit on them or lose them within a week. If I break or loose these who cares. Just my opinion...

I use cheap Rx sports glasses (goggles) with clear polycarb lenses, plastic/rubber frames & elastic headband- less than $150 total.

i wear the oakley m frames. excellent selection of lenses, fantastic optics...

of course, if you wanna go on the cheap, i understand that the fake oakleys that you can get for $25 can take oakley lenses. and its the lens that matters, not the frames.

Do you need reading glasses?

I do! and when I wear my riding sunglasses I have a hard time reading my Cat-eye computer.. I could see the numbers if I move back and squint, but it is not safe while riding..

I have found those flexible sticky plastic reading lenses that you attach to the bottom part of your sunglasses, basically making them bi-focal prescription Reading glasses.. this allows me to peek through the bottom part of my glasses and read the display, or look up and see through the clear part..

you can find the sick-on lesses here (http://www.iteminfo.com/Product.asp?subcat=2513643#)

I check out the sunglasses at the supermarkets. If I find one that is polarized, with UV protection, less than $15, I'll buy it. I have a Foster Grant Extreme Sport for sunny days. The bicycle fashion police might give me a ticket, but my eyes are protected from stuff flying up as well as the sun. My latest pair are yellow lenses, can't remember the brand. They were on sale in a bike shop, $12. Great for cloudy and rainy days. Makes the grass look really green. Kind of a morale booster in winter.

I second the Smith Sliders... I'm currently rocking the Smith Mainlines in Silver to match my Sidi Shoes :-)

I am looking to get some new Smith's though.. I saw some in Outside mag last night... I have to talk to my rep here at work, the last pair I got for free... I'll have to see what she can do for me now :-)

I'm still using up all the spare lenses I bought when my Bolle Micro Edge shades became obsolete. I have an adapter for my prescription lenses. The wrap fits my face well and there is length adjustment in the arms, plus a choice of straight or curly earpieces. Great quality lenses, good for all sunshine applications and (with a yellow lens) night driving.
I have 2 pairs. The alternatives seem to lack some of the versatility and adjustment I'm used to.

Rudy Project RB3's. I like 'em because they flip up and you can more easily wipe the sweat from your face or clear your eyes from whatever.

Plus, I like climbing with them flipped up on those long grueling climbs...like Mt. Palomar here in San Diego.

eh Mt. Palomar isn't that hard. I love going down though.

What kind of bike do you ride? and what jerseys do you wear? maybe ill see you someday! Im the out-of-place looking kid with the yellow jersey, black riding shorts riding a super v 500.

Bolle 401. No nonsense wraparound frames and grey polarized lenses. Pretty much indestructible and cheap on the Campmor site.

well, not that i wear them for biking..but i had a great pair of Oakley Square Wire 2.0 Flex Hinge which were just wonderfully built...

i feel its a helluva lot better than my Rudy Project Graal SX (since sold)...

its not fair to compare the too, as most plastic-y 'carbonate' composite type glasses feel cheap... even from Oakley

I've used Smith glasses for several years now. They're a great value because you get multiple lens with them. Other brands make you buy additional lenses. Nice feature, unless you always ride in the exact same light conditions. ;)

I am interested in this topic, because I have been content to wear Bolle Rogue's...Decent glasses for the money, but I have gotten tired of the plastic nosepieces that quite quickly come unglued from the frames..While out riding when they come unglued, the rough edges hurts the nose. Same goes for a pair of Performance glasses I own.
New glasses think I favor the Rudy Project Rydon.I need buy sunglasses with Rx inserts.Limits my choices.
I have found that when the nosepiece comes unglued, the only glue that will reattach them is wet suit glue.

I think the M frames are superior to riding over my normal favorite lense, the Eyejackets for one reason. Bug control. That bigger lense blocks more bugs.

I also wear Oakley Zero's. I love them, they are super light, offer great coverage and are very comfy. For some reason they are not a popular pair of glasses but I've been wearing them for over 10 years now (not the same pair though)

When it isn't very bright out I'll switch to my Smith Districts for which I have orange, yellow and clear lenses as well as dark brown for the bright days. These are my casual wear glasses as well.

I wear Oakley M Frame Pros most of the time and have a number of lenses for different light conditions. I also have a pair of Oakley Racing Jackets that are very nice.

The lens quality with Oakley is top notch but you pay for it.

Oakley M frames. I also have a pair of clear lenses.

What I really like is that your whole field of vision is covered and you don't see any frame as you look through them.

The lenses come in several different shapes, so keep that in mind. I like the hybrid. It covers the whole field and dosen't sit on my cheekbones.
