OK so I'm a road guy but have been thinking street warrior MTB. So I find a crappy Moongose MTB frame with everything but wheels but horizontal dropouts. I ebay some real cranks with a 39 ring. Get some charinring bolts and 16 freewheel. Tires are cheapo "cruiser" tires. Now I never planned on going off road but I just got it together last night. So anyways 6" into the snow I decide lets go. 21Degrees, 12 MPH wind, driving snow.

I had a blast but if I'm going to ride in this crap I should get some real tires. Oh yeah a real chain too. I may even have to find some some mud to play in.

I think I will call it D.A.S.S. Dumb A$$ Single Speed

Snow is fun but painful. I usually have very sore hips after a serious snow ride.

Get the widest knobs you can. Studs are heavy but are a blast. People freak when you take these tight fast turns on ice!
