i have a 07 dahon boardwalk D7, sometimes i can't carry it on the bus and just recently i noticed that the derailleur just touches the bus rack. Now i'm worried when ever i have to put it on the rack, cause we hit some pretty bumpy roads, that one day something might happen to the derailleur. anyone have this same problem and come up with a solution or way to raise the back tire a little on the rack but so it's still secure? i was wondering if strapping a little piece of wood to the back tire to raise it up a little would work but not sure if that's safe for the bike. if anyone had any thoughts on this i'd love to hear them.

thanks

What happens when you shift into the largest sprocket?

That should raise the derailleur a bit and move it closer to the wheel.
