I tried searching for posts with similar issues but to no avail. So I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me or find someone that had similar issues and find out how you got them resolved. Here goes...

Well, I have a Garmin Edge 305 and just this past week it started to go whacko on me. I don't remember the exact moment my issue first occurred but when I turn on the unit (not connected to the usb cable) and try to hit the Enter or Up and Down buttons the unit just turns off. There was ample power according to the battery life icon.

I even used the unit with cadence and HR this past weekend on a 3+ hour ride with no issues.

When I connect it to the USB cable these issues don't occur and it works fine. So I'm wondering if it's a battery/power/connection issue.

I just recently added a HR monitor (already run cadence) to the unit so maybe that was enough to finally kill the battery??? However, I still get a full charge and I had left it on last night for over 6 hours and it still had one bar left. So maybe it's not the battery?

I did the soft and hard resets and reinstalled the updates but I'm still having this issue. So I'm stumped! Anyone else ever have this issue? and solve it themselves?

Now the other prooblem is that I bought it used earlier this year and the wife of the guy had no clue as to the age and what not. And of course, I no longer have the contact # of the seller nor did I get a receipt. So I'm guessing no free warranty replacement for me!! Does it matter if I mention to Garmin that I bought it used? Will that be a problem with Garmin or will I just end up paying the $99 out of warranty cost?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer before I call Garmin.

Hey Gary, remember Joel's thread about fixing his Garmin? Might be a similar problem with a loose contact point.

Also, I think Garmin may replace it as I think it may be a defect.

I ended up calling Garmin and they are replacing it. Plus I'm too chicken to pull it apart as I'm good and breaking things! haha!

Off topic... will you be at Foxy's ride this weekend? I'll be there with a couple other buddies.

Thanks!
Gary
