Hello to all I just got my first road bike. I just wanted to know what's a short novice ride that I can do. I live in the concord area so what advice can you give me?

Congrats! What did you end up getting? I'm trying to put together some ideas for a road bike for myself. Post a pic in the "bikes of norcal" thread! As far as rides in the Concord area, I can't help you. All I can say is, just ride wherever!

I ended with 06 dbr podium 2. I picked up in Schwinn city in Antioch. If your in the market for a new bike you may want to check them out

Kind of depends on what part of Concord you're in.
Check out this site (http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/srchkey/concord%2C+ca/country/254/region/126) to find routes that others have uploaded (this link should show you a list of routes related to Concord).
I also highly recommend the East Bay Bicycle Coaltion's map of "our side" of the hills - it shows which roads to avoid, which ones are bike friendly and how steep some of the hills are. You can pick up the map at many local bike shops (I think it's $8 or $9, but it's worth it - I pull it out when I want ideas for new rides).
