I've been here in Kyoto for 4 years and have visited alot of temples and shrines. This one was particularly special. Incredible Buddhas, wonderful gardens , exceptional paintings...
It dates back to around 794.
It's a must see if you come here.

I go to the Kobo-san at Kyo-o-gokoku-ji. The architecture, art and landscaping that are there are well worth seeing. I prefer Ryoan-ji for a Karesansui garden.(especially on a rainy winter day :) ) It’s one of the few places I have had to put my camera down, sit down and just contemplate what I was looking at. Lots of great temples and shrines throughout Japan.

Ryoanji is my favourite garden. I live about 1.5 km from there, and here it is...
