Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Go to cascade.org and see if there are any rides that interest you under "free daily rides." It's hard to imagine anybody interested in riding with a new (?) rider. Or check out point83.com if you're under 30.

i rode from poulsbo along the water front to the bainbridge, took the ferry across. the took the i-90 trail to bellvue and back.
had a fun time. but a few people hated being drafted on climbs be a fixed gear

Oh, that sounds like a nice day. The I-90 trail is a really interesting way of getting across Lake Washington.

Point83 is a great way to meet people. It's a mildly anti-spandex crowd, big on beer, fried food, and general shenanigans. The cutoff age seems to be around 35, but there are older folks who ride with us too. We ride every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 7 pm, from Red Square and Westlake Center, respectively. Inclement weather tends to cut down on the number of people but not cancel (I don't know about when its icy, I stay home then).

Slow Sunday, not connected to Point83 but with a lot of the same people, is a great easy ride if you're not that fast yet. It's damn fun even if you are fast, actually. 10 - 12 mph sort of pace. It meets every Sunday, 1 pm, at Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill and rides tend to be around 20 - 30 miles with a few beer/bar/food stops in there. Inclement weather tends to cancel, but not always.

All of these rides are very informal and basically anarchy. If you want to lead a ride, you just take the reins and lead it.

And, don't forget to bring your attitude.
