Howdie all,

Has been several weeks since I've posted, but Mrs. Zoxe and I are still riding as much as the crummy fall weather will allow.

We started riding at the end of July and set out to hit 50mi/wk as a goal. This week we passed 1000 miles (500 each). I know some of you guys ride that much in a weekend ;) but it's been a big deal for us. I've dropped not quite 20lbs and 1-2" off my waist.

Anyway, wanted to share the good news, and reinforce that anyone lurking here who's thinking about starting up ... just go ride. Doesn't matter how far or fast, just go.

Wow, that's actually great mileage. In a year you will have about 2000 each, that's GREAT for new riders. I remeber having 600 for the year, then 2000, then 4,000, then 7,000. Now it's back to 4,000 and a normal life. My wife has done 3,000 for three consecutive years and still going strong!

Join bikejournaldotcom. It ranks you with thousands of other riders. But you get motivated by the other around you that are on about the same level. If your neighbor does 5, you know you gotta do 6 to pass him!:D

That's great news for you and Mrs. Zoxe!

Don't think too much about the weather -- layer your clothing, bring a hat and long fingered gloves, and enjoy whatever sunshine is outside! Cycling in the fall is loads of fun!!

Way to go, you realise now that next years goal is also 1,000 miles, but each!:D

I passed 1700 since June 1st of this year when I started recording my miles--I've put 398 on my new road bike in 3 weeks. got my first Century this coming Saturday, then plan on scaling back my riding for the season.
