Classic & Vintage - DBS bike? (norwegian)

Hi! new poster here. I just bought a old DBS 26" 3 speed cruiser. it has SA rear hub with what appears to be drum or band brakes. It is actually fairly light for a cruiser , and has aluminum rims, chainguard, and fittings. It has a long toolbox on the side with a slide out drawer that appears to be purpose built to me.I am not looking to sell it, just was curious if anyone has run across one before. Great color. That IS sharp. Looks like drums front and rear. It has a very schwinny looking kick stand and crank. The tool box is probably for a pump and tool kit.

The sturmey hub should have a date stamped on it. Two digits for the year and the month of manufacture

it says ab 64 and then 9 so im guessing sept, 64?...it will look a lot better after i buff and wax all the bright stuff and clean the paint. unfortunately the paint is somewhat weathered, but im slowly cleaning and waxing it ..ill post a better picture after its all cleaned up

Yea, it will be a 65 or 65 bike. At least give us a quickie photo of the drive side.

fenders are raw aluminum on top...i spent a few hrs tonight polishing them and the rims....and cleaning all the rust and tarnish off the chrome....its getting there...

Just luurve that tool box!

I want this bike... I just love everything about it... and it was born the same month and year that I was... hehehehe... I will keep my eye out for one just for me.... here in the northwest

its very ergonomic and large...I don't think ill be selling it anytime soon.I like it a lot better than our english cruisers

There is alot of them around here, but they are great bikes. I keep thinking I should grab one and put a Shimano 7 speed IGH or something.

Fun to hear you call it a cruiser, here we just call them old ladies bikes.

The toolbox is wery common for the DBS. I`we got one in my basement, my friend has got several.

They made LOTS of bikes, and there is still alot around.

I found lots of bikes at the dumpster some weeks ago, waiting for new owners. Approx half of them was this type.

My friend has got a beautiful spring green one w/ wicker basket.

I like the cruiser name on them, makes me look at them with different eyes. They are great bikes, but I want more gears..

That looks exactly (but not as beat-up) as the bicycle my parents tried to teach me to ride on. With no air in the tires, and on the lawn, they made me sit on it while they tried to shove it into rolling. I fell off constantly. I learned to ride at a friend's house who had a Schwinn. Then my parents tried to make me keep that DBS. So that bike holds some memories.

Did I mention my parent's drank back then?
