Wonder anyone here had the chance to go off road with your foldies? Its not something that the foldy is design for but some foldies, those with 20" fatter wheels, can actually manage off road riding quite well. I found that our recently in a ride on the Ketam Mountain Bike Trail on Ubin Island, Singapore with 5 other foldy riders.

Even my friend on a Curve D3 with 16" Big Apples manage to complete the course without pushing, though the smaller wheel cannot roll over obstacles easily.

Would love to hear of your off road experience.

thanks oldie for the photos and blogspot link!... I do that, more or less, type of riding frequently on my Downtube FS with a Schlumpf MountainDrive and Nexus 8spd hub.. no low hanging dangly bits.. and some suspension front and rear to smooth out the terrain.... if I expect a really knarly ride, I'll cheat and use my Dahon Zero G (technically a folder) which tackles anything I can handle..

Yes, a hub drive would be ideal as I noticed the RD of my Speed 8 picked up lots of grass, weeds etc... so got to clean that out every now and then. But certainly, this kind of riding would rule out the more commuter type foldies though it is not impossible.
