I'm in the market for a new set of bicycle lights, and I'm particularly interested in the Dinotte 600L and dual 200L headlight sets. I was caught by surprise by this review (http://reviews.mtbr.com/blog/dinotte-200l-200l-dual-600-li-4c/), which claims that the light output of the dual 200L set is nearly equivalent to that of the 600L. Can anyone comment on this from their own experience?

are you using it for off-road trails or country roads?

or commuting? I like having 2 lights because I didn't like having none when
one ran out of juice.

2 x 200L = 400L < 600L

That being said, I believe that 2 ligths spaced apart is much more easily recognizable to an automobile than just the single light.

I have a 600L and I looked at getting two 200Ls instead, but it is more work to put them on and take them off than with the 600L. For day rides, I take the light and batteries off, but leave the tail light on. The 600L just slides on but the tail light, which is like the 200L is held on by a rubber band which are not that easy to put on and take off.

The 600L lights up the road like a motorcycle headlight. I am very satisfied with the 600L.

I'll be commuting in the early hours on some poorly-lit (but thankfully, well-paved and sparsely-trafficked) country roads.

After chatting with Dinotte a year ago, I bought the twin 200L's (when they just had the 400L available, I believe) instead of a single bright light. Reasons..

- I can adjust the aim on two lights so I get a wider light pattern.
- Part of my commute is on a MUP with good pavement; when other bikers are coming I turn one of the lights off.
- There are times when I feel like I still want a light but a 600l would be overkill; I can just turn on one light
- I can always upgrade later w/the same battery pack.

That being said, the 600l sure looks nice; tough choice.

In the case of the dual 200Ls I would probably be running them both off a single battery, so I don't know if that would be a real advantage in my case...

That's something I hadn't thought of... thanks for the input!

I use the 200L Dual for trail riding. I have one one the bars and one on the helmet. Works great. Reviews show that the 200L dual has an intensity of 32 lux, and the 600L 33.

Found this interesting link on MTBR.

It seems that even though the 600L has more quoted lummens, the dual 200L setup has nearly the same amount of Lux (as I understand this, its the amount of reflected light from a surface.... I could be wrong so don't quote me). At any rate, the 200L may appear just as bright as the 600L in real-world usage.... plus as someone else mentioned, it would give you the ability to point them in 2 different directions, and helmet mount one.

The dual 200L probably has similar lux in its hotspot but the 600L has a floodier beam from what I've seen.

You can also get the dual 200L with both lenses, one regular and one flood.

BTW, if it counts, I'd rather run a headlight than a taillight during the day if I had to choose to run only one light. There are more hazards where I'm going than where I've been.
