Egg Beater has a warranty program to upgrade old pedals. They will exchange your early model Egg Beaters with a new pair of the current, much improved model. There is a $25 per pair charge. I just got my FIVE pair exchanged. The new ones are supposed to be easier to rebuild. Call or email info@crankbrothers.com. If your pedals have the rubber dust cap that pops out to access the screw, you have the old original model. The new ones have a screw in aluminum dust cap and disassemble with a nut.
