Road Cycling - Attention Egg Beater pedal users

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know Egg Beaters are generally associated more with mtb, but I thought I would also post here just in case.
Egg Beater has a warranty program to upgrade old pedals. They will exchange your early model Egg Beaters with a new pair of the current, much improved model. There is a $25 per pair charge. I just got my FIVE pair exchanged. The new ones are supposed to be easier to rebuild. Call or email info@crankbrothers.com. If your pedals have the rubber dust cap that pops out to access the screw, you have the old original model. The new ones have a screw in aluminum dust cap and disassemble with a nut.

Thanks for the info. I've got three pairs but only one could use an upgrade. The spring assembly has some play. I'm assuming I'll get a same model replacement. All of mine are stainless steel spindled.

Vixen,
I got my first pair because I wanted something with recessed cleats for commuting. I liked them so much within a year I had replaced the Look pedals on all my bikes. And I really liked Looks. There are road cleats for Egg Beaters also.

What paperwork, if any, do you need to do this?

This is a question!!
What are the advantages of the eggbeaters over standard SPD??

What are the advantages of the eggbeaters over standard SPD??
-4 sided entry for ease of clipping in
-Simplistic design, no adjustments
-For MTB, good mud shedding / not getting all bound up
-For Roadies, use of shoes that aren't conducive to the QwikRip slip-n-slide.
