Electric Bikes - ElecTrec throttle issues?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone else have an ElecTrec? If yes, have any of you had issues with a quirky throttle? Mine has started to get weird. Sometimes it dies when I want to pull away from a stop (hit the throttle, nothing happens...), and sometimes it stays on when I let go of the throttle. The brake cut-out still works, so if I'm stopped at a light, I just hold the brake and the bike never tries to take off, but still, it needs to be fixed, sooner rather than later.
I have noticed something odd about the wiring bridle that goes to the motor on the left rear fork (wrapped with a piece of neoprene that velcos on) that makes me think its a short or loose connection. If that bundle of wires (the power cable/throttle and lines from both brakes) gets bumped, I can (sometimes) make the bike do its strange things.
As anyone else run into this, and is there an common site of the problem? Am I going to have to get the multitester out and start tracing circuits?

I have the ElecTrec for a year and haven't had that problem, yet

I'd break out the multitester before an accident happens. The last thing you need is a full on stuck throttle...

Called Electrik-Motion to ask about a rack (they have one thats custom for the ElecTrec) and asked Eddie about the weird throttle thing. He says he's seen it before - its caused by corrosion on some of the contacts. He recommends everyone with an ElecTrec wrap the connections with electrical tape - Look under the neoprene wrap on the left rear fork - there are several connectors there. He also recommended wrapping the connector from the battery, but I take my battery off every day, so thats not feasible. I'm looking for some silicone tubing that I can roll back or something.

Thanks for the information
