It was 62 degrees out when i went to therapy this morning! So nice, had the windows down and the music blaring. The only downside was the idiot at the light who didn't move for 5 minutes while i laid my hand on the horn (Green light means go, idiot!). Only in the 80's today, low humidity, and cool breeze. Why can't it be like this all year round?

it's extremely windy and cold outside today...
oh, and cloudy... typical weather pattern for an incoming thunderstorm

Was snowing north of the city today... currently 4C=39F and windy (below freezing point with the wind, so a light rain might turn to snow.) Will be freezing tonight without wind, 0C=32F with the wind ... -7C=19F... here it comes.

hehe -- need some inches for that "virgin" rush. It's 39F and raining - lovely ride home today - luckily I have full lights on.

We're getting Santa Ana conditons starting tomorrow, which means it will go into the 80's on the coast. Unfortunately it also means very dry, hot winds so the fire danger increases dramatically.

Oooo that was a cold wet ride home! Had to pick the bike up from the shop today (do not have tools or no how - however this next year I plan on upgrading tools and knowledge) to repack bottom bracket and repair rear hub on the commuter/winter off roader - so rode bus this morning, and guessed on clothing I'd need for ride home. Well I was pretty good - 'cept I had nothing really rain proof on and so, I am a tad wet, not bad as the clothing I had on was technally resistant, but that only goes so far. (have spent a few bucks over the past several years of commuting to upgrade clothing to where I need and want it - starting out with riding in the winter with 3 heavy shirts, two bulky sweatyshirts, long underwear(s), jeans, few pairs of socks, lightweight waterproof boots, etc - I sometimes felt like this leaving the house - - however it WAS effective (just weighed a ton when the outer layers got wet - and those dam heavy wet sweatshirts with hoods - grrrrr - I cannot tell you how many times I thought I ripped my nose off as I struggled to get out of the wet cold clothes!

I have a bad feeling that based on the ungradual cooling since the start of October that we're deep into Fall and won't be having a mild Fall/mild early Winter as in past years (like for several years we really didn't get the big snows that accumulated till mid to late January, etc) - think it's going to be a long cold wet one this year.

I think I'll be putting these on sooner than I thought!!!! Innova Ice Husky studs! WOOT! 1st year with studs!

Now, I need a stud. Hmmmmmmm, that's for the next thread ...

P'shaw ---- it's downright fugly out there.

HEY!!!! I showed up at Full Moon Vista's Cyclocross race a couple weekends ago at Cobb's Hill and had the darn owner stand behind me and state - "OK, let me get another volunteer to take that busy stretch" - and then I felt the hand of Scott on my shoulder - and so I worked that race (had a freakin busy section of the hill too where they came off the face of the hill over some nasty stuff and hit some tree roots, hard packed dirt with embedded rocks etc where they had to almost take a fairly shallow 90 degree turn to continue the course. Mah job - to slow them down and warn them to it's coming up (1st time around the course peeps - and later on TIRED Peeps were the worst!!!).

Anyway --- next and last race of the season for the city is November 1st at Ellison Park. I'll e-mail you the details.

Lots of FUN!

Oh yeah - and of course THEY NEED THE VOLUNTEERS.

It's been my observation that Finch is the cut off point.

When I worked in Woodbridge, (427&7) I literally would see snow on the ground north of 7 and none south of 7, or the bank of fog stopping at the road....weird stuff. That's my cut off point. Weren't so bad yesterday/today, just the first.... gonna be a poop load worse this winter according to the Almanac. In over twenty years of riding I've never needed studs, I'd think they'd be pretty dangerous if you had ANY actual 'crete under your feet.

OK, so that was a rather miserable ride in - 35F and raining.

OH PAH-LEASE - let it snow! This cold wet stuff sucks. I actually have on most of my winter riding gear today, just minus the heavy thick warm gloves and the balaclava.
