This is the situation. I was walking down the street with my new girlfriend
when I had a brilliant idea. “Let’s go dumpster diving tonight.”

We walked a little farther and she said “and would you believe there are
people who think there’s nothing to do in this town?”

But it’s 10 minutes after we were supposed to meet for our date and I
haven’t seen her yet so I started wondering. Do you suppose there is any
remote chance she was just being sarcastic?

Ok, maybe a few follow up comments are in order. The parts in quotes are originally
spoken by 2 guys walking down the street in the Shoe cartoon, a big favorite of mine.
I deal with the public a lot and changed that to 2 girls walking down the street for
the teen age girls part of the public, and they do tend to enjoy it. Then I realized it
picked up just a bit of drama if it is a guy and a girl, and I had a chuckle just writing
it out, and thought the chuckle might get passed along. (I thought it was funny!)
