Mountain Biking - Angry Young Man

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
out on a ride today, but 4km in and a bloody stick jamms into my rear derraliur and bends it somehow, had to walk my bike all the way back to my car, which made me mildy angry. To add to it had magpies swooping me the whole way. A bad day for BRK.
A question though, i know its hard to tell without pics but the thing that moves across when you chnage gear is bent, and i can no longer change up or down. Are these noramlly an easy fix? Or am i up for some $ for a new one?
Again, a bad day for BRK!
Sounds like you're from Australia.
Where abouts?

If the derailleur hanger is bent, you should be able to tell. I searched "bent derailleur hanger" on google and got some imaged, such as

edit: oh, and derailleur hangers are relatively cheap. Just make sure you find the right one for your frame. Derailleur hangars on the other hand...
yes thats the problem i shall seek out my lbs, for a new part. cheers
Sorry to hijack your thread once more, but may I ask what bike shop you go to?
