What form of pump do you people take with you on rides? CO2, Mini pump, Frame Pump, and which ones?

i use a co2 pump that is also a hand pump. the best part is that it has a cap/valve on the co2 tank, so if you start using it, you can close the cap/valve thing, and it will save the rest of the c02 tank for later use. i think it is tops, but have no idea what it is called. sorry

I used a Specialized PVO for my road bike, and topeak minipump for my mountain bike. I have had to change a blowout on the road and I was very impressed with the SPecialized pump. It filled the tire fast, and got it up to pressure (>100psi). The minipump takes quite a bit more effort, but I am not trying to get high pressures (28 psi), so I don't worry about it much.

Silca Imperio old style with the steel campy head.
I also carry 2 C02 carts with inflator.
one can never have enough options for filling tires.

I've got the Topeak Road Morph. It saved my ass once so far (since I started riding a road bike 45 days ago)

I like how they misspelled "roadmorph" in the link!

The laws of physics can't be broken no matter who makes the pump.

To get to 100psi, you have to push a pump with a 1 sq/in bore with 100 pounds of force. That's pretty hard for most people to do with one hand so a skinny pump is best.

To get the volume of air needed to fill a road tire to 100psi, you can either use a pump that has a large displacement for a relatively short time or else use a mini pump for a long time. I'm old and might not have that much time left so I like a long stroke pump for a road bike.

CO2 is both fast and easy, but make sure you have everything connected properly or you'll be left standing there with a flat tire, no CO2, and a whole bunch of snickering riding partners.

I carry a variety of pumps and CO2 on my various bikes. The last flat I had I used CO2 even though I had a Zefal HPX available.

I take Torelli Aria mini because a pump has endless supply of air and don't have to deal with buying carts or discarding them; a mini because I only use 100psi in the rear and 90 in the front; otherwise a frame pump is idea for higher pressures. The Barbieri Carbon mini can pump up to 145psi-more than any mini currently on the market.

By the way IOTEK I still have a Silca Imperio frame pump with the Campy steel head from days of old as well, but I have it stored away.

I have a Blackburn frame pump on my main ride since it has a pump peg :) and a mini pump on my other bike. And I always carry a patch kit and spare tube.
