One the kids in the neighborhood had this bike stolen and this is how they found it. It was set on fire in several places and pretty beat up.

I know it's a big box store bike, but I had another box store bike at the house so I robbed a few parts and rebuilt it for him. I know he could have bought a new one to replace it for $100 but he liked it so here's how it turned out. He was thrilled and it shifted better than when it was new...It felt good to help out..

I see steeling a bike to use it, but to set it on fire is just wrong.

Yes, it was pretty hateful. We actually found the kids that did it and I made them take it back to him and apologize. It was a nice taste of humility for them. I don't think they hated this kid, but just got acting stupid and decided to destroy something. Normally these kids are decent I don't know what got into them. It did feel good in a selfish way to do it..Is that wrong?

Amazing job! Before I read the caption for the second picture I figured it was a photo of a new bike from a catalogue or something! Well done!

Thanks all, it does feel good to do the right thing.
In kind of a related story. I picked up a low buck Pacific Rock Stomper mountain bike at Goodwill for $16.00. My wife has been looking for something like that to give to a kid in her classroom, he walks to school and his family is bad off for money. I was talking to a lady in the store and she thought that was so cool and gave me a few bucks to buy him a lock for it.. Yes..it's the little things in life that can bring me back down to earth and realize what is important..
