Foo - looking for a backpack.

Anyone know who makes a backpack with an exo-skeleton support system? I saw a sells rep with one when the outdoor retailer show was in SLC this summer, so I'm not even sure if what I'm looking for is on the market.

The one I tried on had a stiff plastic frame with a 360" ball joint at about mid pack. The cargo hangs off a single point above the joint, allowing your hips to hold all the weight but have 100% freedom of motion away from the cargo.

Anyone know who makes this? It looked very boutique, not sure if it was targeted towards cyclists or day hikers.

I've been thinking about getting the commuter version, the BC3, when it's released in the US. The email I received from Ergon's customer service rep. said that it would be $200.00 USD. Yikes.

Wow, that BC3 looks nice, spendy, but nice. I think I tried on a BC2, it was loaded up with 15lbs or so, felt secure and comfy. I was just curious about the support system, I was envisioning a different use for the frame, but I don't think my idea will work.

The Trailflex website was overwhelming for me!

Gregory used to make them. Scanning Campmor doesn't seem to find one currently.

As far as ANY kind of back packs, anyone who has owned a Badlands/Vortex will tell you, they are as good as it gets. They cost a lot, but they are worth it. Unconditional lifetime warranty (best in the industry), and they are made in SLC! You could even go visit them and check them out if you wanted.

I have been using mine since High School. I use it almost daily, and will probably do so for the rest of my life. These things are DURABLE and COMFORTABLE. If I don't lose it, I have every reason to believe someone will inherit it after I die. And they've gotten much nicer since I got mine all those years ago!

I still have my Jansport Dalghouri D3 Expedition pack that I bought in Paragons in NYC back in 78! Gee whiz I am old! Best damn pack I have ever owned and everything on the frame is adjustable!

Sigh! It is an oldie but a goodie!!!!
