Any reviews on the stock tires these come with. They are the Specialized Fast Trak LK Sport tires. I was thinking of switching them out with these http://www.rei.com/product/661240 for more technical trails. Any opinions?

FireXCPros are good XC tires but I find that they don't really hook up if you get into heavier stuff. Get Maxxis Crossmarks they roll really fast and grab nicely during the climbs. Kenda Nevegals are awesome too.

I have an 08 Rockhopper that had the Specialized Fast Trak LK Sport tires. They were not bad on hardpack but once it got rooty, rocky, wet, muddy then forget it. I put on a pair of WTB Velociraptors and like them quite a bit. I find them to be much better in the conditions I mentioned above.

I have some fast track LK's on my epic, and I like them a lot. They roll really fast, and grip surprisingly well. The trick with them is to run them at slighly lower pressure than you think you should. I run mine at 33 rear, 27 front, and I'm almost 190 pounds. They don't really start to have problems until you're below 30 psi in the rear, then it starts to wallow.

If you do decided to go for a bit more aggro setup, I'd keep the rear tire and just replace the front with something knobbier. The the fast rolling nature of the fast track is worth it, imo.

wow that is a low profile knobby. I have a 2005 Rockhopper (bought new 1 1/2 yrs ago and the tires on that were a lot more higher profile.

I just bought a set of these to replace the other original tires.
