I need to upgrade my sled. I love sledding. Sleds don't need tune ups. No need to buy passes either.

I love to ski and hope my knee holds up. I tune my own skis ... you wouldn't believe the kit and gear I have. :innocent:

And I'm a lot better skier than I am a cyclist. :(

We may have to have a BF group ski outing this winter. I used to do my own tune and hot wax but for some reason I have just gotten in the habit of letting the shop do it. I may start waxing my own again and just letting the shop do my edges. Maybe if I could find a class in ski tuning I would be more confident in my tuning abilities.

The more sleletons the better in Mod land. They even let recumbulators have a blue star :roflmao2:

Everybody knows that snowshoes are the greatest method of winter transportation ever invented.

ha ha.

I'm not hip enough to ski, so I use the snowshoes to get away from all the hip people on the slopes. Me and the Unibomber prefer to be out in the middle of nowhere, where it's nice and quiet.

You guys don't know what snow is.:D We get close to 200 inches a year up here, and yes I LOVE IT. Yes my skis are already tuned and the studded tires are mounted on the hybrid.

Last year was a great season we started skiing on Thanksgiving. This year, well we will see.

Hers is a picture I dug up from last year.

I've never done CC, either (would love to try). I've snowshoed all over Wisconsin, the Up and British Columbia, though. It's a good time. Gets you places you can't otherwise get in the winter.

Did cross country skiing all through high school. Dug out the old skis last winter but never made it out (the gear is pretty shot/beat up). Might have to do it this year.

I don't think I've gotten much better.

I'm cold just looking at those pictures. Brings up bad memories of mud puppies on the end of my tip-ups. Also pulling an 18# pike through the ice and scared the bleep out of me. Looking down and seeing nothing until .... Yikes!

I saw those ice fishing pics and was very happy to see I wasn't the only fishing fool on here. I was going to post a similar guy-with-fish (but no ice) picture. Why didn't I? Because I feared the next post would be ColorChange holding a shark he caught.

Glad it was only an 18# pike.

I wish it was that easy. First of all you got to buy all the swagg needed to put yourself on the fish. You need a trailer for the quad, quad, shanty, GPS to find the good spots, fish finder so you can play "video games" while fishing, video camera and monitor to see what kind of fish are not biting, various poles, lures, baits, auger, ice scoop, gaff, heater, layered clothing, snow suit, polar boots, survival gear, ice cleats, hand held radio to listen in on other fishermen, and food and beverages so you can fish for 10+ hours without bonking due to the cold. Too many beers tends to make one lazy, content and to stay in the shanty and not move when the fish may be "on" only a couple miles away. I'm thinking GU flask, ice cold Gatorade, Krispie Creams and a few Michelob Ultra Ambers.:D

MJH2, We had a house on Green Lake in Wisconsin and this was when I was a kid, late 60's time frame. That fish scared the crap out of me I flinched backward and yanked him about 5 feet into the air and he came flopping out on the ice. I couldn't believe it and my older brothers are laughing their arses off at me. We didn't have any ice shed or anything, we just stood out there like idiots and froze. Used a manual auger to get through up to 2 ft+ of ice. Yeshhh... what was I thinking.

Well, I used to snow blade at Boston Mills. Ever see a huge dude wearing a gignormous jacket with the world's biggest zipper on some itty bitty skis and wearing a helmet with a full face balaclava? Yeah. That's me. Although I'm not skiing this year. I took my season pass money and I'm gonna buy some new wheelz for my bike.

Mavic Open Pro's/Ultegra hubs from Performance. I can't afford $500 wheelz. I wish I could....but being in college kind of puts a strain on the bank.

$209 for a season pass, I am so jealous. I paid $449 for the silver and have blackout dates on the holidays. I couldn't justify the $749 for the gold when I usually avoid the holiday crowds anyways.

As far as soon the forecast calls for snow on Monday and Tuesday.

Since you violated the rules by mentioning winter and winter activities before Halloween, I feel that I must mention the reality of skiing in Ohio (which is the same as climbing on a bike in Ohio).

I know. Boston Mills has been boring the past few years...except for that one year when they put a MASSIVE jump on North Bowl. You remember that? When they had the 2 kickers and everyone would go off the right one because they couldn't handle the left? GOD that thing was awesome. I kept hitting the left (yes, on my itty bitty snow blades) and that was some fun. I think that was a 45 ft gap. Just hannging in the air for 2 seconds was incredible.
