Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Dinotte AA battery holder

Could someone please post a link to where I can buy a replacement cheapo plastic 4 x AA battery holder like the ones that come with the Dinotte 200L. Mine is busted and I'm having trouble finding exactly the same thing online. Thanks!

Saw them at Fry's Electronics today. $1.29 in the store.

I've heard Radio Shack and similar stores usually have them as well. I would assume it would be cheaper/quicker just to buy locally than it would be to buy online and pay for shipping.

Thanks for the replies. I'll just check the local Radio Shack. (Although if anyone knows of an online battery retailer that has them, please let me know, as I'm also planning on buying a whole bunch of batteries (we have small children) and was thinking I'd combine the orders.)

Radio Shack has them cheap ($1.79). Buy a couple as they break if you drop them with the batteries in them. :)

just go to dinottelighting.com. I had the same problem. He sent me out two replacements for free.

Go with Dinotte's...or at least a high quality battery holder. In had a run time issue with one of my 200Ls and I contacted Dinotte. The first thing they asked was if I was using one of their battery holders, or a radio shack model. I was told that the cheaper battery holders don't have the efficiency that better quality models do. I thought this was a dubious claim at best, but I tried it anyway. Well guess what ... Run time issue solved! I don't understand the science behind the efficiency problem with cheap battery holders, but it seems to be a real issue. I have friends that are electrical gurus and they too have confirmed this as well. From then on I got my battery holders from either Dinotte, or Minute Man Electronics as recommended by my friends.

On the upside, I just converted over to Dinotte's Li Ion system. I still have two extra battery holders and a spare battery pouch. Contact me off line and you can have them :)

Maybe things have changed for DiNotte since last fall... I just had one of my holders break. I emailed DiNotte and they told me I could order a new one or go to Radio Shack and buy one. They did not offer to send me a replacement. I know it's inexpensive for me to replace, but somehow I was disappointed.

Strangely, they told me the Radio Shack replacement might give a low battery indication earlier than the original holder. I don't understand how or why, since that's controlled by the light...

Either way, I got a replacement at Radio Shack, part number 270-383. It appears to be identical in every way to the original holder. $1.79+tax.

In case anyone's wondering, here's the entire text of the email from DiNotte:

"We sell them on our online store under spares and extras (AA spare parts)

You can also get them at radio shack, but mark any you get there since the
radio shack holder might trigger low battery early."

I would bet the radio shack ones have a little more resistance in the battery terminals, usually the cheaper stuff does.

I got a radio shack one also, every single thing down to the lettering and the 4 little holes in the top are the same. The radio shack IS the same as dinotte. Also FYI my red light came on in like 20 minutes w/old holder, new holder 4 hours with new batteries and its doing great.
